Hi. I am a family mediator working in the Eastbourne area. I am a member of the Family Mediators' Association and also trained in Child Consultation.

If you are intending to divorce and would prefer to remain in control of the outcome and keep the process as amicable as possible, then mediation is for you.

In mediation you would both meet with me to discuss your situation and how to resolve issues relating to your children and a financial settlement. You can use mediation to reach resolution in either or both of these areas.

It is conflict that has the most destructive effect on children, not the divorce itself. Your relationship as a couple may be over, but, if you have children you will be connected for a long time into the future. During mediation I will help you to understand each other's perspectives, feelings and needs in a safe environment, improving your ability to communicate and negotiate as parents into the future.

There are massive financial implications to a divorce. In mediation I can help you to look at how you are going to divide your assets and liabilities. If you don't have children, it is easier to split those assets and walk away from each other. But if you do have dependent children you will need to work out how your joint assets and income are going to now support two households and continue to provide for their needs.

Divorce is not an easy option. Having been through it myself, I can offer insight and understanding, and help you to find a way forward.
